I was a helper on a Surprise Major course some years ago.  After the tutor had placed a couple of students he said to the rest of us: ‘Fill
in the rest, men round the back’. I replied: ‘That’s a rather sexist comment’, to which he responded: ‘No it’s not, it’s just common sense’. The bells were not particularly heavy.
