Reading the accounts on the website so far, it certainly reminded me of an occasion when my husband and I visited a tower where we did not know the ringers. The TC asked my husband if he could ring Bristol Max, and my husband said yes, and pointed out that I could too. The TC looked surprised, and I am sure he would never have asked me unprompted.
